بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmathullahi Wa Barakathuh.
Firstly, Marhaba to the Haafidh blog. I hope that it can help you achieve your dreams, insha-Allah.
It seems that many of us dream of memorising the Quran – the key word here is “dream” because sadly, that’s all we do.
Before we proceed, there are some key points that everyone should understand:
1) WHY do we want to memorise the Quran or any thing else for that matter?
It seems most people have no idea. Instead, they just go with the flow and do it just because everybody is doing it.
However, this is a very important question and one that needs to be answered before we get to the “How do we memorise the Quran?” question.
When we know WHY we’re doing it, we’ll also be able to summon up the desire, passion and most importantly the sincerity required for this noble journey.
So, why should we be memorising the Quran?
Short Answer: For the same reason that we do everything else – to please Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Memorising the Quran is an act of worship and that means it can only be done to seek the Face of Allah, not for any worldly reason.
2) The Quran is easy to memorise.
How do we know that? Because Allah says so:
“And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?” [Surah Al-Qamar (54) : 17]
So, memorising the Quran shouldn’t be thought of as some impossible task.
Also, please understand that this ayah (verse) does not mean that memorising the Quran will be a walk in the park – because it isn’t. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication. I’ve only memorised a few ajzaa and I’ve already seen how one needs to keep going.
3) There are ways to make this task easy. It’s as simple as that. That’s what this blog is here for.
You don’t need to use everything here. Just use that which benefits you.
So, once we’ve understood these points, we’re ready to proceed.
May Allah make this noble journey easy for you.
