بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum.

One of the mistakes that many people make when they try to memorise the Quran is that they approach it the same way that they used to approach their school or university textbooks.

How is this possible when the Quran is the Speech of Allah and all these other books are the words of created beings??

Many of the books that talk about the techniques of memorising the Quran also miss out on this issue (i.e. that the Quran is different). There is one book though that really emphasizes this issue:

Causes that Aid in the Memorisation of the Noble Quran – Shaikh Mahmood Al-Misri.

Just skimming through the table of contents tells you why this book is quite different from most of those out there. The author spends a lot of time explaining the virtues of the Quran and the virtues of being amongst the carriers of the Quran.

It’s an excellent book and I think it should be read 2-3 times for one to fully absorb everything in it.

[A teensie-weensie point: The ahadeeth pertaining to Salatul Hajjah are all weak. Please see this and this for more information.]
